Why Healthcare reform is necessary and how AI and Digital Solutions might help
The main challenges to our current Healthcare System are 1. The demographic evolution, 2. The shortage and activity of all healthcare personnel, 3. The rising intrinsic costs of healthcare with limited public funding, and 4. The intrinsic design and cost-ineffectiveness of the system itself. In order to avoid the collapse of our current Healthcare system, various actions need to be taken, in various domains. Some of the possible actions will be presented.
Bob Moens
CEO
Being inspired by Innovation and Digital Health, Bob founded MedTech EXCELLERATOR to support the growth of Medical Technology ventures. Meanwhile he is fully dedicated to the mission of moveUP to use digital health for following up patients remotely after surgical procedures, to measure and improve patient outcomes.
Traditionally, Patient Support Programs (PSPs) relied on a dedicated team of nurses to deliver personalized, high-touch care. While this model ensured strong patient engagement, it was also resource-intensive, costly, and difficult to scale. As a result, many programs were either phased out or significantly reduced over time.
The emergence of digital PSPs has introduced a new paradigm—offering scalability, efficiency, and AI-driven personalization. These solutions can adapt to individual patient needs, providing continuous engagement, real-time monitoring, and automated support. However, despite their advantages in accessibility and cost-effectiveness, fully digital solutions may lack the human connection that many patients value. Moreover, implementing a digital PSP requires strategic investment in technology and infrastructure.
A third approach is the hybrid model, which combines the scalability of digital solutionswith the personalized touch of human interaction.
During this session, we will mainly explore the digital & hybrid model, and identify which approach is best suited for different healthcare requirements and patient- and HCP preferences.
